Prairie Visions

Adams is one of the four participating cities in SE Mower County, Minnesota in an unusual  "Joint Powers Agreement" called Prairie Visions. This multi-city quasi-municipality in Mower County  comprised of Adams, LeRoy, Rose Creek and Taopi was formed to preserve the area's natural and historic resources while creating a diverse and sustainable economy based on agriculture, tourism and small business.

Although that is the formal structure of Prairie Visions, the muscle and sinew are the loyal and hard-working volunteers who develop and promote this area by encouraging people to explore the recreational opportunities in this transitional region of oak-savannah and tall-grass-prairie and one of its rare species, the colorful Shooting Star native flower.  A number of  other beautiful native flowers are also found in along the highway and trail and state park.

Visitors may drive along the Shooting Star Scenic Byway or the southern end of Minnesota Hwy 56.  Or for a closer look, bike or hike the Shooting Star Recreational Trail which also follows part of Hwy 56 as well as portions along the Upper Iowa River and through Lake Louise State Park.

More local organizations will be providing information about their contribution to a high-quality life on the prairie where the timeless beauty of the ancient prairie is joined with modern technology, high quality education, and country friendship.
